Debra Gano

DEBRA GANO is an internationally known model and actress who has been featured in print, film and television, and on runways around the world. Her career has included work with some of Hollywood’s top actors, as well as premier fashion designers worldwide.

A veteran of the fashion industry for over twenty years, she has also worked as a newspaper fashion columnist, fashion show producer, college instructor, public speaker, and modeling school & agency director. Throughout her career, she has mentored women and girls in the areas of poise, self-development and beauty. A life-long learner and seeker, Debra traveled through her own personal journey of self-awareness. Overcoming many of life’s hurdles and challenges, Debra uses these lessons as tools to now inform and empower others.As Founder and CEO of Heartlight Girls, she conducts workshops and speaking engagements for youth and adults, teaching empowerment, self-esteem principles, awareness of inner beauty and strength, and motivates others to connect to one’s true self. Her first book in the Heartlight Girls series, Beauty’s Secret, integrates her passion for empowering young girls and spiritual awareness. It is the recipient of multiple awards, including the National Best Books Award, the Moonbeam Children’s Books Silver Medal, and the COVR Visionary Award for Best Children’s Book of the Year. As a single mother, Debra became was has been loosely termed a "mompreneur," building a business during her daughter’s nap and preschool hours. Taking a leap of faith, she abandoned her fashion career to pursue her passion to deliver what she feels is a much-needed message into the world through her speaking and books. She believes it was this passion, fueled with positive thinking and visualization using the "Law of Attraction", which pushed her through numerous obstacles to fulfill her dream and defeat the odds of success. Debra received her B.B.A. from the University of Michigan, and now lives in Denver, Colorado with her daughter, Ella.
